Olympic Sponsors – The Business of the Olympic Games

2012olympicsponsorsThe IFW recognizes that the sport of competitive wrestling must be viewed like a business seeking to secure corporate sponsorships and mainstream media attention for not only its existence but for its long term survival. Wrestling must seek and secure major corporate sponsors if it is to exist in this current environment of big time sports like the NFL, NBA, college football programs and the Olympics.

Wrestling has too many special interest groups, none of which are focused on positioning competitive wrestling as a valuable asset worthy of major corporate sponsorships and mainstream media attention. Increasing the marketability of competitive wrestling and securing corporate sponsorships will allow our sport to be self sufficient, generating revenue, instead of continually seeking donations for its fiscal survival.

“Commercial partnerships are absolutely crucial to the continued success of the Olympic Games and the operations of every business within the Olympic movement.” –Jacques Rogge, President of the IOC.

The sport of competitive wrestling is most certainly a business within the Olympic movement.
