IFW and Olympic Sports Media Update

Why is it important you join and support the International Fraternity of Wrestlers and its mission to gain more media for the sport of wrestling! Please read below and if you believe the IFW can help wrestling then join….

Here is the commercial value indicators of two Olympic athletes –

1 – Saina Nehwal – Badminton she has over 6 million Face Book fans and her Olympic Celebrity ranking #260 and;

2 – Jordan Burroughs – Wrestling (the highest ranking Olympic wrestler) No Face Book ranking ONLY TWITTER – 133,015 followers. His Olympic Celebrity ranking #1313

In my humble opinion – wrestling is still in trouble, actually BIG trouble maintaining it’s Olympic Sport status, not from a relationship perspective but from a business perspective. Sports is a worldwide business please – please – please accept that fact- sponsors pay huge amounts of money to be associated with the Olympics –

Its the International Olympic Committee’s inherent responsibility to drive value for every sponsorship dollar they receive….There are three primary criteria and measurements for driving sponsorship value used:

1 – Media Footprint – how many times does a sport receive a social media posting – a news story – or video replay in the general media. ( BTW – that’s been the magic for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign – he receives $30 million in in FREE media exposure every week )

2 – The Celebrity Ranking of a sport’s top athletes…. Badminton # 260 and Wrestling #1313

3 – Independent Sport’s Sponsorship dollars received – how many sponsors and how much does the sport receive – easily attained metrics on any event or sport.

Attached is the 2008 IOC executive report on each sport….what happened in 2013 when the IOC recommended wrestling be excluded – was no surprise if you accept the fact the OLYMPICS is a business.

Below are two extracts from a website used by sponsors to determine – Olympic Athlete and Olympic sports commercial value… Please believe Visa – knows these numbers – Toyota Knows these number – Apple Knows these numbers.

Frankly and directly the International Fraternity of Wrestlers can improve the numbers for wrestling the IFW has a staff of 4 people dedicated to media… It starts with you funding the effort with a $49.95 annual membership fee.
